How to keep your New Year’s Resolution

Every Year we set a new goal for ourselves and every year, well, I’m sure a lot of us stop halfway through the year, thus not completing our goals. Unfortunately, I am one of those people who just can’t keep up with my new year’s resolution. Which is bad. So, I’ve read a few articles and things to do to actually accomplish everything you want for 2015! Here’s what I’ve learned.
  1. Set goals that are achievable. – When setting goals, make sure you plan ahead and you know what to do to achieve your aim. Nothing is impossible if you really want something to happen. For example, you tell yourself that you have to travel this year. To make that happen, you’ve got to do research on plane tickets, saving money etc. etc. Remember, you don’t set goals just because you’re wishing them to happen. You set goals because you want and need them to happen. Thus you make plans.
  2. Do not fill in your calendars with too much plans and too many things to do. – Honestly, filling in your calendars with soooooo many things to do actually tend to put you off. The mind is being tricked that you have just so many stuff going on, that you won’t have time to do anything anymore. If you want to achieve something, you have to make sure you have enough time to do them.
  3. Highlight completed goals. – Always make it a habit to highlight the goals you’ve finally completed. It’s always a nice feeling to see your planner at the end of the year knowing you’ve scratched off your goals from your bucket list. I believe that this actually encourages you to go and do more adventures!
  4. Reward yourself. – Go get a good book, or a new top. Don’t forget to reward and compliment yourself for completing a goal. We all deserve our guilty pleasures once in a while. Being kind to yourself will keep you motivated.
  5. Keep Trying. – It takes real commitment and discipline to stick to your plans and goals, don’t be discouraged once you have an occasional slip. Keep trying. If you weren’t able to complete something, try again. Keep going. It’s always better to keep trying than quitting.
